- I'm having a recurring hardware problem with my PB140. Of course its
- milliseconds out of warrantee. When the screen is entirely gray (such as the
- default desktop background), I have vertical lines in the bottom-left of my
- LCD screen. The lines go from exactly the halfway point down to the bottom of
- the screen, and give-or-take are alternating off-on from left to right.
-
- When items (icons, text, etc) are in the bottom-half of the screen, the lines
- go a bit wild, appearing in various places (still vertically on the
- bottom-half).
-
- This happens periodically. Much of the time the PB140 is fine, then suddenly
- these symptoms occur with verying degrees from mildly annoying to downright
- disruptive. This can occur at powerup or after use, and will go away without
- warning. I don't seem to have any other problems with the machine.
-
- The symptoms seem to indicate bad VRAM, but it might be a loose/bad cable. I
- sure hope it isn't a bad LCD panel. Does anyone with PB140 HW experience have
- a better indication of the problem? I imagine the VRAM is surface mounted,
- correct? Any other advice? Anything greatly appreciated.
