- So far the discussion has concentrated on using a 20MHz 68030
- with a higher clock speed.
- One of the basic assumptions has been that the CPU is "weakest"
- or slowest link on the whole board and most likely to fail
- with a higher clock speed.
-
- I am wondering now: Is the 68030 really the slowest/weakest link
- If not what is (memory?).
-
- Now what if you go out and bought yourself a faster version of
- the 68030 and plugged that in instead of the 20MHz version
- (assuming it'll fit etc).
- Why wouldn't that work?
- Apple seems to plug in whatever version they seem to have lying
- in the bin, judging from the difference between the si's so far.
- Are faster 68030 that much more expensive? I can't immagine
- them being that much.
