  13. So far the discussion has concentrated on using a 20MHz 68030
  14. with a higher clock speed.
  15. One of the basic assumptions has been that the CPU is "weakest"
  16. or slowest link on the whole board and most likely to fail
  17. with a higher clock speed.

  19. I am wondering now: Is the 68030 really the slowest/weakest link
  20. If not what is (memory?).

  22. Now what if you go out and bought yourself a faster version of
  23. the 68030 and plugged that in instead of the 20MHz version
  24. (assuming it'll fit etc).
  25. Why wouldn't that work?
  26. Apple seems to plug in whatever version they seem to have lying
  27. in the bin, judging from the difference between the si's so far.
  28. Are faster 68030 that much more expensive? I can't immagine
  29. them being that much.
