- What is the point, then?? Most people have this peculiar notion of "outdated"
- or obsolete. The guy with the SE can run pretty much the state of the art in
- software, the best of which today is more than most people need. What more do
- you expect? Apple's latest system software can run on those older machines and
- has had a consistency that shows no sign of not supporting the older machines.
-
- What is your point? What do you mean by "outdated"? I and I bet most everyone
- else reading this group wishes that Apple would "outdate" the models of 6
- _days_ ago if by outdate you mean introduce something with more power, etc.
- What's wrong with a company trying to improve its products??

- In what way? I have to admit, as a former Apple II owner, I might have had the
- same sentiments, _BUT_ now I recognize this silly attitude for what it is --
- NONSENSE. Hopefully, when you shell out for a Mac you have some idea of what
- you want to do with it. Hopefully, these great numbers of people you refer to
- have such an idea, and are more concerned about being productive than having
- bragging rights about whose machine rules (rights that have about the lifespan
- of a housefly!). The pb 145 is _NOT_ a great example, because anyone who
- bought a pb 140 WITH THEIR FUTURE NEEDS IN MIND is to busy being productive to
- worry about the increased value of a pb 145.

-
- WRONG. Please explain your generalizations, e.g., that the Mac is not (HAHAHA)
- standing the test of time. The reason why this is so funny is because I work
- in computer labs with friends who _HATE_ macs but would readily agree that
- they stand the test of time and that they have been innovative (alright not
- compared to Unix systems).
-
- Get a clue, man. Read the news -- even Bill Gates readily acknowledges the
- influence and _FUTURE IMPORTANCE_ of macs.

- "Apple II forever!!"? In your dreams and mine, but I can sympathize with the
- feeling. One day the bitter Apple II owners will not only realize that
- everything from the Mac+ to the Quadra 950 are good, useful machines, but also
- that buying an Apple II and expecting a company to hold their hand makes _NO_
- sense at all. It was a good idea for Apple to break with the Apple II past.
