  13. Following up on the information provided on Monday by nick+@pitt.edu,
  14. I called Micron (Xceed) at (800) 642-7661 about the status of their 8-bit
  15. color video cards for the SE/30.  I had ordered one through MacZone, but 
  16. the card has been backordered for several weeks.

  18. The person at Xceed said that the production line had been stopped due to
  19. a testing problem (quality control).  The line should be up and running
  20. again
  21. by the end of the week, she claimed.  The problem is in one production
  22. batch,
  23. not the card itself (which has been around for quite awhile).

  25. On another note, she claimed that the card would drive Apple's new 14"
  26. Color Display just fine.

  28. In any case, I need the card sooner, so I called MacDepot (see back of Nov.
  29. MacWorld for the ad I looked at).  They do have the 8-bit card in
  30. stock, and for some reason they sell it for only $209 (not $279 like
  31. everyone else).  So I cancelled my MacZone order and should receive the
  32. MacDepot order in a few days (they're only a few miles away in Lawndale,
  33. CA).
  34. I don't expect any problems with the order, but I'll post if I have any.
