- Following up on the information provided on Monday by nick+@pitt.edu,
- I called Micron (Xceed) at (800) 642-7661 about the status of their 8-bit
- color video cards for the SE/30. I had ordered one through MacZone, but
- the card has been backordered for several weeks.
-
- The person at Xceed said that the production line had been stopped due to
- a testing problem (quality control). The line should be up and running
- again
- by the end of the week, she claimed. The problem is in one production
- batch,
- not the card itself (which has been around for quite awhile).
-
- On another note, she claimed that the card would drive Apple's new 14"
- Color Display just fine.
-
- In any case, I need the card sooner, so I called MacDepot (see back of Nov.
- MacWorld for the ad I looked at). They do have the 8-bit card in
- stock, and for some reason they sell it for only $209 (not $279 like
- everyone else). So I cancelled my MacZone order and should receive the
- MacDepot order in a few days (they're only a few miles away in Lawndale,
- CA).
- I don't expect any problems with the order, but I'll post if I have any.
