- This sounds exactly like the problem I reported here a couple of days
- ago with my SE/30 8-80; in particular, the bombs under AD.
- I got one answer from a friendly guy quoting the relevant pages from
- "The Dead Mac Scrolls" (after the bombs and freezes, I had had sad Mac
- codes during booting, and my Mac is dead for the time being).
- Unfortunately, the Dead Mac Scrolls did not help in this case; in fact,
- I had looked at the book myself today and found out that with my hard
- disk I should not experience this problem at all...
- I still suspect that it probably has something to do with the SIMMs,
- both in my case and in yours. If during installation you touch the SIMMs
- and a bit of fat gets on them they may corrode partly (tiny parts on
- them) (this is how I understand it; I'm not very technically minded).
- This typically causes unpredictable errors like those we are
- experiencing.
- I believe I read something about "cleaning" SIMMs - does anyone know how
- to do this?
- Hopefully, the information interchange will go on!
