  15. One of our Business Units has been looking at DOS software to perform a
  16. specific business function.  Being a Mac campus, we've investigated the
  17. possibility of Mac software that performs the same function - there is
  18. none.  So, we are now investigating the possibility of running the
  19. software on a Mac using SoftAT.

  21. I checked with the vendor and the software could run - the requirments
  22. are 28mb of disk space, 640k - 1mb of RAM, and VGA or EGA video. 
  23. However, the vendor has expressed reservations about our attempt to use
  24. SoftAT.  They suggest a 386 or 486 DOS system and feel that the
  25. Mac/SoftAT combination may not have the needed processing power.  At this
  26. point, a trial run may not be possible - the vendor usually does an
  27. install/training session when the software is delivered.  They don't seem
  28. particularly eager to let us try the software.

  30. If anyone has any comments about using a Mac running SoftAT for demanding
  31. DOS applications, it would be a big help with this decision.  The office
  32. in question has a IIsi installed, but we could go better than that within
  33. reason if its necessary.
