- I have heard the term busmastering used often with EISA and MCA machines,
- and I think I know what it does, but I have some questions.
-
- Can busmastering be done with an ISA system with 2 vesa local bus slots?
-
- How many busmastering cards can the above use, realistically?
-
- Finally, about busmastering, I understand it to be where the card, usually
- a hard drive controller or video card, xfers data without involving the
- CPU. Correct?
-
- oh yeah, this is off topic, but I've gotten the impression ISA systems
- don't handle more than 16megs well or efficiently. Is this true?
-
- hmmm..guess I have one more question, also off topic, on EISA machines,
- I've read about 2 different types of slots, busmastering and slave.
- Not trying to sound too stupid, but do all EISA machines have both of the
- above, or can you just have all bm slots?
-
- Thank you very much.
