- The guy is a liar or an idior or both. Your machine speed is
- not going to matter much, here. The buffering that a 16550 will
- provide is necessary in true multitasking environments like OS/2 to
- obtain consistently high transfer rates. Your modem will slow them
- system down and slow down it's transfers under a multitasking system.

- That said, the Bocca is a fine modem for a very cheap prices
- (I have one I got ~250 dollars around 4 months ago...). And to be
- honest, fast is fast and so long as I can multitask reasonably, 1200
- cps vs. 1600 isn't a big deal to me. Maybe I'm unusual, but I don't
- transfer more than about 10 megabytes a week, so that lack of a 16550
- is no biggie for me.
