- I think you still need another controller card (If I am wrong please correct
- me) to drive the 3rd floppy. The combined floppy drive consists of two physical
- devices and the existing controller can handle only two devices at a time.
- Although only one connector of the floppy cable will connect to the combined
- drive, but they are internally connected as A: and B: drives (which is user
- selectable via some jumper setting). So, probably you can not connect the
- other free connector to another device. You need a controller that can handle
- 4 floppy drives or you need a secondary floppy controller card that can
- co-exist with the current one. Also to access the 3rd and 4th floppy drive
- you need a device driver in your config.sys file or your controller card
- should have an onboard BIOS to do that.

-
- Yes, this is probably the cost effective solution. There are 2IDE/4FD, 2MFM/4FD
- and 2RLL/4FD cards out there. You normally need a device driver to access the
- 3th. and 4th. floppy drives. The driver usually comes with the card.

-
- Yes, this type also exists. They normally have an onboard BIOS and can be
- configured as primary or secondary controller. But they are little expensive.
- You can also get the new type that can handle upto 2.88mb and can co-exist with
- any other floppy controller card.
