  12. Atari invested some money in the Amiga's development before Commodore took 
  13. them in.  That's Atari, Inc., by the way.  When Jack Tramiel bought Atari 
  14. from Warner, they weren't interested in the Amiga.  Anyway, since Atari paid 
  15. for part of the Amiga's development, they contended in court that they were 
  16. entitled compensation for it.  I can't remember if it was settled out of 
  17. court or not, but for quite some time Commodore had to pay Atari a specified 
  18. amount for every Amiga sold (until Commodore redesigned it, that is).  Since 
  19. Atari and Commodore agreed not to comment publicly on the settlement, we 
  20. probably won't know the specifics of the deal, though.
