- Atari invested some money in the Amiga's development before Commodore took
- them in. That's Atari, Inc., by the way. When Jack Tramiel bought Atari
- from Warner, they weren't interested in the Amiga. Anyway, since Atari paid
- for part of the Amiga's development, they contended in court that they were
- entitled compensation for it. I can't remember if it was settled out of
- court or not, but for quite some time Commodore had to pay Atari a specified
- amount for every Amiga sold (until Commodore redesigned it, that is). Since
- Atari and Commodore agreed not to comment publicly on the settlement, we
- probably won't know the specifics of the deal, though.
