  22. Prior to the NEC CDR-84J all CDROM drives had the same (variable)
  23. rate of rotation and sustained transfer rate of 153.6KB/sec. The
  24. CDR-84J is the first of an impending avalanche of drives that spin
  25. twice as fast which results in 2X transfer rate (300KB/sec). Early
  26. next year when more of these 2X models become available it should
  27. obsolete and/or drive the price down on the old 1X models.
