  19. We have two system with these cards installed.  Compared to the
  20. Adaptec 1542B's we have (which are a couple years older, and older
  21. than the Buslogic's), I like a few things more on the Buslogic boards:
  22.  
  23. 1) the BIOS prints a list of the devices it finds at boot time - this
  24. is very, very, very, handy when you've connected a new device and you
  25. want a quick and simple way of knowing if you have the SCSI ID set
  26. correct
  27.  
  28. 2) many of the board-configurable options are on dip switches rather
  29. than jumpers
  30.  
  31. 3) I like the "on board" utilities better (very subjective here)
  32.  
  33. These are all very subjective things - we have more Adaptec boards
  34. than we do Buslogics, and both boards perform just fine.  Right now,
  35. if I had to buy a new one, I'd go for whichever one can most quickly
  36. clear up the "what's needed to work with drives >1GB" question,
  37. whichever one will work correctly with SCO UNix and CD-ROM drives
  38. (I've heard that one or the other, or peraps both, are having some
  39. trouble with SCO and CD drives), and then whichever is least expensive
  40. and/or happnes to be in stock at the dealer.
