- Unless the you are using the I/O card com2 port, there is no reason you cannot assign
- com2 to the modem. You need to configure your I/O card such that com2 is disabled.

- On some systems, this can be done with the CMOS setup program, with others you may
- need to pop the hood, and place/remove a jumper on the I/O card in order to disable
- the com2 setting.

- To specify a different interrupt for com3 in win31, you can run the control panel for
- ports, and choose setup for com3, then advanced. Make sure that you choose an
- available interrupt channel, and that the base I/O address corresponds to that of
- your modem. I think this can be done via trial and error at worst.
