  15. I'm trying to set up Windows 3.1 on a '486-machine, 16 Meg, with an Adaptec 
  16. 1542b SCSI host adapter and a Conner SCSI disk.

  18. At first, Windows refused to start in 386 enhanced mode at all (standard 
  19. mode works). After including the following in the [386enh]-section of
  20. SYSTEM.INI, and configuring Windows to use no swap file, it finally does 
  21. start:

  29. Still, I'm not happy with what Windows does. If I specify any swapfile, 
  30. permanent or not, it won't boot. When I open a DOS box, Windows *exits* 
  31. silently (leaving me with a quick way to exit Windows without using a 
  32. utility, but sans Dos-Box :-|).
