- More info on
-
- Star Trek: The Screen Savers for Windows
-
- Box Requiremtents: Windows 3.0 or higher
- minimum 2MB RAM
- VGA or better
-
- From the people who gave you AFTER DARK, a set of screen savers
- based on Star Trek:The Original Series. This product runs without
- AFTER DARK, but it can run all AD modules.
-
- There are 15 different modules, plus a Randomizer, a Multimodule
- (which allows you to put more than one saver on the screen at
- once), a Sounder module (plays WAV files) anda default night
- city skyline.
-
- Any of the modules may be removed to conserve space. Berkeley has also
- included an uninstall option. Very nice.
-
- Sound is achieved through the internal Speaker, Windows Sound in 3.1
- or Soundblaster in 3.0.
-
- Recommendations: If you don't have a sound board, you're missing out. The
- sound is okay through the speaker, but it's amazing
- through a Soundblaster.
-
- Run Smartdrive with at least 256K minimum. This will
- dramatically speed up the screen savers. In
- config.sys a line "device=smartdrv.sys 2048 256"
- before loading himem.sys or emm.sys.
-
- I've run it in 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768. The
- 800x600 mode seems to work the best.
-
- If you normally run in 800x600 or 1024x768, change it to
- 640x480 and run the Spock module. It'll be easier
- to enjoy the facial expressions. In 10-15 min. he
- should run through everything he does. (on a 386/33)
- This is pretty much the only module I noticed that
- needed 640x480 to make a difference in watching it.
- In 1024x768, things can get a little small on all
- the modules though.
-
- The Modules:
- Brain Cells From "Operation:Annihilate" the creatures
- stick to screen.
-
- Communications A way to leave messages for others on the
- screen. It dissolves and reappears at
- regular intervals in a variety of styles.
-
- Final Exam A trivia game.
-
- Final Frontier Sort of like the opening credits.
-
- Horta The Horta drill while RedShirts explore.
-
- Ion Storm A stream of colorful lines.
-
- Planetary Atlas A picture and description of various planets
- from the series.
-
- Scotty's Files A series of techinical diagrams of various
- pieces of equipment and ships.
-
- Ship Panels Different control panels (M5, food dispenser
- engineering, Spock's station)
-
- Sickbay The diagnostic panel of the beds in sickbay.
- Has comments from McCoy.
-
- Space A spot in universe where many ships come
- together.
-
- Spock Spock appears in various places on the screen
- and does a variety of things.
-
- The Mission Kirk in his chair talking to various crew
- members. Also see Scotty in the tunnels and
- the main viewer.
-
- Tholian Web The Tholians attempt to complete their web.
-
- Tribbles Tribbles multiply while the Klingons look on.
