- Hi,
-
- I provide support in an organization that has a mix of 386 systems with ATI
- VGA Wonder/VGA 1024 (OEM) cards. I've been running my system (a 386-40, 4MB
- RAM, 64k cache, SMC Ethercard Elite at int 10, address cc00, port 280) for a
- while now with occasionally screen glitches when I use 1024*768 resolution
- (which I usually do). Recently a co-worker wanted to work in the same
- resolution (both our cards have 1MB and we are using Viewsonic 6 - 1024*768
- non interlaced) but the problems she is having are much
- worse.
-
- The problems mainly seem to be of two types. The first happens randomly when
- selecting from a menu. Pieces of the screen will be duplicated behind a window
- when it closes, or will just appear.
-
- The second problem happens when resizing or moving a window, sometimes garbage
- will appear on the screen.
-
- We've tried swapping cards. We've also tried turning shadowing off, trying
- different memory addresses for the ethercard (DC00, E000, etc), 8 bit mode,
- and so on all to no avail. Finally I called ATI but the person there didn't
- have any suggestions either.
-
- Now I'm looking for any suggestions anyone might have. Both computers we are
- working with have different motherboards but both are AMI BIOS.
-
- If you have any suggestions, please email them to me, and I will summarize if
- needed.
