- I have been working on a BBS. It is working now. I sent out the
- first edition as a beta to a few people. I'd love to 'donate' what
- I've accomplished so far to a group of programmers.
-
- The beast will run under 3.x or 4.x. I have probably 2 or 3 thousand
- lines of code written and mostly debugged. It is designed in such a
- way that it should be very easy to add on features.
-
- It has a user menu interface easy enough for a dos'er, a number of
- built in commands, docs for developing more code and for Installing
- and running it.
-
- It offers access to what ever commands or programs a sysop wants to
- include in any particular user's menu system. There is a multiuser
- conference system, download management, events information, terminal
- setup ( in color ), a startup script facility and bla, bla bla.
-
- There's more.. A lot more. I've made it so that it can easily be
- adapted to languages other than english. It offers the sysop the
- ability to monitor BBS activiy in real time. The BBS can be set up
- to limit the time of any particular caller. Lot of commercial BBS's
- will have a 'guest' login that allows somebody to login for a 'teaser'
- look at what's available.
-
- I've tried to make the system secure.. much more secure than a shell,
- but I still find holes. At any rate, this project is too large for
- one person.
-
- As I said, the BBS is now running. You can login on my system and
- test drive the guest menu (for 10 mins). However, I've been testing
- device drivers so, my system is crashed a lot lately, and will be
- for the next while, so please try again if you can't get through.
-
- If there is interest, I will put the source code for this BBS
- up for download and it can be a sort of foundation for a group
- effort. If you want me to do this, post here or email me.
-
- Yours Truly,
- Randy Wright
