- I suspect that enlarging buffers is not the answer - I'd look at how
- the system is loaded, what protocols are in use, etc. You may simply be
- asking more of your CPU than the present configuration allows.

- There are two kinds of flow control - XON/XOFF for text only, which can be
- controlled independently for input v. output, and RTS/CTS, which is
- recommended for high speed (9600 baud or more) modems which support it,
- and a few models of serial printer which support it.
