  574. UUCP? I recommend FSUUCP from Chris Fubar. Its a complete package for
  575. dial-up UUCP from a DOS machine. More advanced versions are also
  576. available, but are not shareware. It took me about an hour to get UUCP up and
  577. running from my DOS mail machine.

  580. UUCP -g protocol over most modems. 2400 bps is just fine, if you dont have
  581. long distance calls or large amounts of files, news and mail to transfer.

  621.     The "Mail User's Shell" is a "shell" for mail users.  That is, it
  622.     has its own environment where you can configure not only the user
  623.     interface, but the actual internal mechanisms.  Internally, mush
  624.     has a csh-like scripting language, altho it's not as powerful as
  625.     csh.  It has command-line aliases, file completion, if-else state-
  626.     ments, command piping, and so on.  Because you can build your own
  627.     commands, you can virtually build your own library of email features.
  628.  
  629.     Mush has two tty-based interfaces: the standard tty-mode (ala BSD
  630.     Mail or sys-v mailx) and the fullscreen/curses mode (ala vi, emacs
  631.     or even Elm).  You can set up key bindings that execute one or more
  632.     mush commands, personalized commands or even UNIX commands.  You
  633.     can even emulate keyboard input with keyboard macros and mappings.

  635.     Mush also has a SunView interface that is more powerful than Sun's
  636.     Mailtool, yet backwards compatible with most versions.  Most sunview
  637.     users (if there are any left these days) prefer MushView over Mailtool.

  640.     volume 18 (with subsequent patches).  All three interfaces are

  668. I've been trying to get the DOS-MUSH off of SIMTEL to work.  It's a port of
  669. 7.1 for the IBM.  Most of the stuff works fine, but some commands like ls and
  670. using mush to send mail result in Access Denied results, which is quite strange
  671. since my IBM has no concept of permissions.  The access denied results are
  672. always for directories...I don't know if that means anything or not.  Any
  673. ideas?  I tried running it without the things that I assumed could be causing
  674. problems (namely DesqView and 4dos), but the results still came out exactly
  675. the same.

  973. called UUPC.  I have been happily using it for a few months now and
  974. watched it improve.  It handles all my basic needs and I am
  975. comfortable with it.  It also saves a lot of disk space because all
  976. the messages for one message group are saved in one file and a
  977. corresponding index file.  That literally cut my disk space usage
  978. down to less than half of what it was.  Its relatively fast and quite
  979. easy to install and use.
  980. I can recommend it for anyone with a recent copy of UUPC, some
  981. version of DOS, and a news feed.
