  14. I find this discussion of mouse warping interesting.  There are two
  15. examples of it I can think of, and both of them are in the DOS world.
  16. I don't know of any MS Windows programs that do this.  Perhaps you
  17. serious HF people can expand on my examples.

  19. WP 5.1 for DOS has a pull-down menu system you can activate by
  20. clicking the right mouse button.  You can use Setup to select
  21. "Assisted Mouse Pointer Movement" i.e. mouse warping.  With AMPM
  22. activated, WP will move the mouse cursor to the top of the screen
  23. for you when you click the right button.

  25. I don't like this feature, because when I use the mouse I have it 
  26. around the center of the screen, and it's a real drag to move the
  27. mouse cursor back to where it was in my text.  If you're in the 
  28. middle of selecting text with the mouse, it's even worse.  In fact,
  29. I don't even use the WP mouse features much.

  31. On the other side of the fence is a shareware VGA mahjongg-type
  32. game called Solitile.  In normal game play you pick up tiles in
  33. the center of the screen, but to get to special features you 
  34. have to move to the "buttons" along the top, left side, or bottom
  35. of the screen and click on them.  The program then pops up a dialog
  36. box in the center of the screen, and magically warps your mouse to 
  37. the first button in the dialog box.

  39. For some reason I find this setup a lot easier to handle.  If I want
  40. to cancel the dialog box, my mouse is left in the center of the game
  41. board ready to pick up new tiles.  And if I'm presented with a file
  42. list, I'm ready to scroll up and down it with a minimum of mouse
  43. jockeying.  This AMPM was easy to learn, I think.
