- It is quite an impressive program. It makes Ray-traced
- images and can write them to a 24 bit Targa file, raw files of r,g, and
- b values, and one other, I think. It is available for dos, amiga, and
- C source, as well. Has many sample files for rendering images. It can
- take a LONG time to render images, though. I rendered an image to a
- targa file with 320x200 resolution and it took 2 1/2 hours on a
- 486 20 MHz (no math coprocessor, which they say can increase rendering
- speed greatly). You can use IMPROC41 to view the targa file on a pc
- with vga, supervga, but I'm sure there are other programs out there to
- view them. You can display the images while the rendering occurs, too.
- Some modes are: VGA 320x200x256, 640x480x256, 1024x768x256, others.
- Check the docs for more info.
-
- Try ftp'ing it from oak.oakland.edu in the pub/msdos/graphics
- directory (if my memory serves me correctly!). Look for:
-
- povdoc.zip -- documentation, a must.
- povibm.zip -- executable for ibm dos.
- povscn.zip -- sample files for rendering images.
-
- optional: povsrc.zip -- c source code. Compile to use POVRAY on
- UNIX, SUN, etc.
-
- improc41.zip -- Image Processor (Something like that!)
- basically a paint program with some
- advanced image processing and drawing
- functions. Read targa files straight
- from POVRAY to display on VGA/SVGA.
-
- Hope this helps!
