- Dear Internet:
-
- I'm puzzled by a problem I'm having with my Zoom 14.4K faxmodem.
- I use the Dos software MTEZ to connect to mainframes and the Windows
- software WinFax Pro to send and receive faxes.
-
- My problem is that, if I turn the machine on and use MTEZ first to
- connect to a mainframe, then disconnect and go into Windows enhanced
- mode to run WinFax Pro, I have trouble Sending faxes. My errors
- are always "No response from remote fax."
-
- On the other hand, if I turn the machine on from rest, go into
- Windows first thing and send a fax, no problem. If I then go
- into DOS to connect to the mainframe, I again have a problem "modem
- not responding".
-
- Neither a softboot or a hardboot is able to "fix" the problem. I must
- leave the machine off for about 15 seconds (capacitors?) before
- turning it on again. Then I decide which I want to do, connect or
- fax. It is very annoying to have to turn the machine off every time
- I want to do one or the other.
-
- Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong?
