- Dear Friends, I have discovered a few things I want to share with you on this
- process. The INSD2 switch in LB530TBL does indeed prevent overlaying of the
- addresses in a patron record <IF> the SOURCE on your patron display says,
- "TERMNL(nnn)", where nnn is an OPERID. I will know in 3 days if INSD2 actually
- allows the overlay to happen, since I have it set at 3 days, at which time I
- will try the overlay again. I expect it to work. That is the good news...
-
- One problem with all this, though. It seems that once the INDS2 time delay is
- satisfied and an overlay does happen, the SOURCE becomes "DISK" or whatever.
- If we try to update the address online again, the SOURCE will <NOT> update back
- to "TERMNL(nnn)". This would be a problem if the patron interface record (PIF)
- is generated for another run and itself was not current, the overlay would
- happen when you don't want it, since if the SOURCE is not "TERMNL(nnn)",
- INSD2 doesn't have control. That is the bad news...
-
- The documentation is correct but understanding the impact of the display is
- not always as easy as it seems.
- I will notify NSI of this as well, since there is some confusion therein
- about the 'bad news' part. I will also update you on the result of the INSD2
- time lapse feature for SOURCE = "TERMNL(nnn)". Maybe there never was a
- question in your minds about this feature; we obviously had our doubts.
