- Debbie,
- The University of California, Santa Barbara purchased Symbol
- Technologies' hand held scanner model LS8560. This scanner can be
- programmed and will scan material in an off-site location and down-
- load that information into NOTIS. When it is in the department it
- serves at a scanner at one of the staff terminal that is used for searching,
- problem solving, fines, etc.
- Our experience has been favorable, but I do remember it being
- rather expensive and it took the programmer some time to get it
- programmed. Whether or not it took a long time to program to get
- it to function properly or because the programmer was doing 10,000
- other things at the same time I'm not sure.
