  12. Following up on Ted Parkinson's old message, I wonder if anyone else has
  13. seen the following happen:
  14.     I had a couple of files loaded, running NB4 under Desqview with the
  15. old Herc. Mono card, so QEMM filled in the first 64K of video memory, giving
  16. me 632K for the window in which NB was loaded.  The program, upon loading,
  17. took about 360 K, leaving me with 270K, more or less.  I spell checked one of
  18. the files, and found 137K left at that point and func me showed 108K for the
  19. dictionary.  After loading a couple of other files, some parts of the first
  20. big one being swapped to the RAM disk, and unloading others, I loaded a large
  21. file (112K), which was from 3.1, so I was asked if I wanted to convert the
  22. PT deltas.  Upon doing so, I then checked memory and found that I had more
  23. than I should, so I checked func me again, and found that the dictionary had
  24. been unloaded!  It would be great (as far as I'm concerned) if the dict. would
  25. unload after a while if I'm not using it without my having to tell it to do so,
  26. but I expect it had something to do with that conversion program running, since
  27. it never unloaded before.  Any comments?

  29.     And now for something completely different: Will there be any  other
  30. notabeneri at the AALS convention in SF this coming January?  If so, contact
  31. me personally, and maybe we can get together at some point.
