  15. I recently wrote some responses to an article asking for info
  16. on DOS backup. In those dicussions I made reference to my
  17. favoritism for the Macintosh Operating system. This rasied some
  18. questions about the MAc sytem and generated other responses.

  20. I would like to answer some of the questions and issues rasied.

  22. Topic #1 Backup on a MAC:

  24.         There are several methods that can be used to backup up
  25. a Macintosh system. The simpliest method is to backup file by
  26. file or folder by folder on to floppy disk. To use this method;
  27. simply highlight the desired file(s) or Folder(s) by point the
  28. mouse pointer over the desired item(s) and clicking once; then
  29. drag them (the Icons) to the Icon of the Floppy disk load for
  30. this purpose.
  31.         A second method is similar to above except you drag the
  32. desired items to te icon of an external Hard Drive instead.
  33.         A third method use a backup program that was furnished
  34. with the Apple system. If you use this program you open it and
  35. use appropriate command found in the menu choices. You load
  36. unformated disk one at a time and the software formats and save
  37. all the files and folders in sequence. you will be prompted
  38. when to insert additional disk. A variation on this method is
  39. to use a Software program called SumII and open its Backup
  40. Application. This method is easier than Apple's Backup program
  41. it compresses the Files/Folders at the same time. Other backup
  42. Applications are Retrospect, Norton Utilities for the MAC and
  43. others.
  44.         A variation on method three, you can use Syquest,
  45. Bourneli Boxes, Removable Hard Disk units, Optical technologies.
  46. Most all come with some type of software to format the
  47. technology and to backup.
