- HANDBOOK OF INTELLIGENT CONTROL:
- Neural, Fuzzy, and Adaptive Approaches
-
- Edited by David A. White and Donald A. Sofge
-
- Handbook of Intelligent Control provides a hands-on approach to
- integrating intelligent control approaches with existing control
- architectures for the nonlinear control of complex multivariate systems.
- It is an attempt by leading industry and academic researchers to present
- the current state-of-the-art developments in intelligent control in a highly
- readable, often tutorial format such that many of the techniques
- described within may readily implemented by the reader. The goals of
- this approach are:
- % To provide firm mathematical and theoretical foundations for
- current intelligent control methods
- % To demonstrate how these methods may be effectively combined
- with existing control practices
- % To provide overviews and extensive bibliographic references to
- much current work in this field
- % To provide examples of real-world applications in robotics,
- aerospace, chemical engineering, and manufacturing which have served as
- a driving force behind new innovations in intelligent control.
-
- Discussions concerning these applications are provided for two main
- reasons: to demonstrate how existing intelligent control techniques may
- be applied to real-world problems, and to provide challenging real-world
- problems which serve as impetus for new innovations in intelligent
- control and for which intelligent control solutions may provide the only
- solutions.
- This book is an outgrowth of three major workshops held under the
- National Science Foundation Intelligent Control Initiative. The chapters
- included in this volume are implementations and extensions of creative
- new ideas discussed at these workshops. The application and integration
- of neural, fuzzy, and adaptive methods into "real-world" engineering
- problems makes this an ideal book for practicing engineers, as well as
- graduate and academic researchers. This volume contains the following
- chapters:
