  24. NATURAL RESOURCE MONITORING - Ph.D. Scholarships
  25.  
  26. Three PhD scholarships have been sponsored by Digital Equipment Corporation
  27. under its External Research Program in the area of Natural Resource Management
  28. in a Massively Parallel Processing environment.  This research program is in
  29. association with CSIRO and State Government Agencies (Agriculture, CALM, DOLA,).
  30. One scholarship in the area of Probabilistic Reasoning and Image Interrogration 
  31. has already been advertised.

  33. Two additional scholarships in the following areas are now offered:

  35. Accurate determination of surface physical properties from visible and infrared
  36. satellite radiances with application to the coastal zone.  Further information

  39. GIS and remotely sensed data modelling under uncertainty.  To develop methods

  47. IMAGE COMPRESSION - PhD Scholarship (APRA Industry Award)

  49. An APRA Industry award in association with Dr Sala and Associates, a company
  50. located on Technology Park which is adjacent to the University, is offered in
  51. the area of Depletion Algorithms for Image Compression and Decompression.

  58. COMPUTER AIDED INSPECTION - Reasearch Associate

  60. A research assistantship which is funded under an industrial contract and is
  61. concerned with CAD models for process analysis and inspection of complex metal
  62. components is available.  The successful applicant is expected to enrol as a
  63. full time PhD student.  Some international travel is involved.
