- A research position is available to be associated with a project
- on Spatial Reasoning. The appointment is available immediately, for a
- one-year term (possibly renewable, depending on funding). The successful
- candidate will participate in developing tools and techniques for
- spatial reasoning using active vision and qualitative reasoning.

- The project involves various aspects of Artificial Intelligence,
- Robotics and Vision at theoretical and practical levels. We are looking
- for an individual to investigate and implement various methods for
- spatial knowledge representation, map construction and navigation.
- The development environment will be on SUN SPARC workstations, using C,
- Lisp, and possibly MPL (some work may involve implementation of parallel
- algorithms on a MasPar MP1 using MPL).

- The candidate should have a higher degree, preferably Ph.D., in computer
- science or a related engineering discipline. Candidates about to submit their
- PhD thesis, or with MSc and relevant experience should also apply.
- A strong background in AI and knowledge of C are necessary; knowledge of Lisp
- and MPL would be an advantage.

- Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Extension
- beyond one year is dependent upon funding.
