  12. I have got a Philips AZ6801 portable CD player which I have attempted
  13. to connect to the 3.5mm jack plug input on my car stereo in an attempt to
  14. obtain a better sound than I could using the cassette-type CD adaptors
  15. that are available.

  17. The problem is that when I tried this, the music was practically drowned
  18. out by noise from the CD player which sounded like electromagnetic
  19. interference caused by the tracking and/or laser mechanism or something.
  20. If the CD was paused or if the volume was increased, there was no change
  21. in this noise either, which indicated that it was caused by interference of
  22. some form.

  24. Has anyone come across this problem before with  connecting CD players
  25. to car stereos in this manner?  What is it caused by - poor grounding or
  26. shielding, or perhaps power supply? (ie. I haven't tried it yet, but would
  27. using batteries instead of a cigarette lighter power adaptor remove this
  28. noise?).  The noise cannot be heard at all when using the cassette-type
  29. adaptor, or just headphones either.

  31. My car stereo is an AWA (not sure of model no. - but would be pretty
  32. much mid-range in terms of quality).  Has this occurred with other
  33. makes of CD player or car stereo??
