- I find it interesting that you prefer Fright Night 2. I enjoyed the first
- one quite a lot, although I have to agree that it had some made-for-TV
- feel to it. Sometimes even a little silly, but overall entertaining. The
- sequel had a great atmosphere to it, but otherwise I think it flopped. The
- atmosphere alone can not a movie make. There were too many loose ends for
- me...
-
- But this brings up a topic which has bothered me for a long time. So often
- my disappointment with horror films deals with the fact that there are times
- where the main characters, be they 'good guys' or 'bad guys', do something
- very dumb, which makes me say to myself 'Why is (s)he doing this?????'. Going
- to Fright Night I, for example, I recall the time when the vampire agrees
- to pretend drinking a glass of holy water, proving he is not a vampire. This
- seemed insane to me, that he would take such an incredible chance like that!
- The very thought of such a risk seemed unreal-- it would have been much easier
- for the vampire simply to kill his visitors, once he got them in his home.
-
- But usually, it is not the monsters but the victims who do dumb things. I
- cannot count the number of times where I see someone in a film, who after
- hearing a strange noise, goes all alone to investigate. And IF this person is
- female, she will usually end up walking backwards into the claws/arms of
- some evil entity waiting for her. Come on, give us a break!
