-
- There was nothing to be redeemed from. I keep forgetting how sarcasm doesn't
- carry over the net. My Thanx was that-> sarcasm. If you haven't seen the
- film yet, the real affect of the ending will not carry over, cuz we as a
- people are already desensitized to the issues presented. At the time the film
- was released, thought, the subject matter was fresh.
-
- In all earnestness, the original question (what is Soylent Green) clearly
- was asked by someone who din't know of the old movie. The answer could have
- been given without that crucial piece of info., just for kindness sake.
-
- As for the merits of the movie (your redemption), to each their own.. Soylen
- Green was "ahead of its time" for a sci-fi realistic-type movie. The problems
- faced in Soylent Green were 1> the greenhouse effect 2> overpopulation
- 3> coroprate greed and 4> the morality of institutionalized suicide. Do
- any of these themes sound familiar. I guarentee you that when this film was
- made, only #2 and #3 were occasionaly found in Sci-fi movies. Production
- qualities aside, the film had merit.
