  35.     When the film Miricle on 34th Street was made, Macy's and
  36.     Gimbles were about the ONLY stores of their kind in NY, or
  37.     anywhere else for that matter.  Back then, 34th street had
  38.     some meaning because of Macy's.  Now New Yorkers know it
  39.     more as where Madison Sq. Garden resides, along with the
  40.     herald square mall and other shopping areas.

  42.     Coming from Berkeley, I take your "who cares about New
  43.     York City anyhow" with the proper degree of respect.  I mean,
  44.     who cares what comes out of California!!! The only culture there
  45.     is in the yogurt (to paraphrase a favorite east-coast lament).
