- Not necessarily. On my fast, my steady-state weight loss was running
- about 7 pounds a week. This was under strict medical supervision. On
- the other hand, I am not willing to lose more than 2 pounds a week on
- my normal diet.

- The usual restriction is minimum caloric intake. It's the famous
- 1300 cal/day for women, and currently 1500 calories per day for men.
- The last time I had to lose 2 pounds in a week, I took advantage of
- my capacity for exercise and still got 3000 calories/day.
