I've been on diets at this time and you can do it, but it takes will
power. You don't need any frozen entree. First, tell the hostess
that you are on a diet, but would still like to come. Most of the
time, the hostess will have munchies like celery and carrots
if you let them know something like this. You can just eat some
white meat turkey, potatoes without gravy, and vegetables, and that
won't be too much. They won't really mind if you skip the pie.
The big problem for me is being in the presence of all that food
without eating it myself. If you do slip, you might cut your diet
down to half for a couple of days following and probably can make up
for it. The big thing to avoid are munchies like nuts and desserts.
