- Much of that story sounds familiar. Map the experience to a single man
- and change the weight to 393, and that was me two years ago.
-
- the solution for me was to find a fasting group that offered good
- education. It was gawd-awful expensive, not covered by my medical
- insurance (and it's crisis-oriented/puritan based mindset), though
- I got one hell of a tax deduction.
-
- This was my first formal program. I tried losing weight informally
- several times, ranging from quietly dieting, to announcing it to my
- co-workers (only to be embarrassed when I fell off the wagon), and
- similar approaches. The best I ever lost was 35 pounds, and that
- lasted only a short time. Most of the time, a diet was good for
- 5 pounds of weight loss, and 10 pounds of gain.
-
- This program has helped me a lot. I'm much more healthy, my heart
- seems to be the envy of the doctors, and a lot of weight/stress related
- problems (I think all the *weight* related ones went; lingering
- psychological residue is another story, and Stress Shall Always be
- With Me.) It takes a lot of effort to keep that weight off, and I'm
- somewhat of an exception; most people don't keep the weight off so
- well as I've been able to.
-
- For me, the first thing was deciding to do something serious about
- my weight. The second thing was deciding to get some professional
- help. Your milage *will* vary, but you might want to talk the
- situation over with a doctor you trust.
-
- Hang in there; things can get a lot better!
