- Hello.
- I wanted to thank everyone who sent me notes about my using excuses
- not to exercise. You're right. My life is in the pits, and I have
- decided that rather than let that be an excuse to gain weight and
- not exercise, I should use it as a motivation to get out there and
- sweat a little :-) Getting started is definitely the hard part, and
- I prefer to walk with a goal in mind. Exercising and losing weight
- may be just the boost I need to get the other parts of my life in
- better working order. Who knows?
-
- Anyway, last Thursday, after reading several very nice mail
- messages from readers of this group, I decided that I had
- to think of some reason to take a thirty-minute walk. I
- decided that I would like to walk to this little mid-eastern
- cafe, which is about 15-20 minutes walk from my office and
- get some Apricot Nectar (they have it in cans, and it's great).
- I did it....It took me 40 minutes, including a brief stop
- to buy the nectar and grab a free newspaper. I got to see
- things I'd forgotten about; cats and dogs asleep on porches,
- people wandering about for no apparent reason, a homeless man
- with a grocery cart, the second-hand bookstore, which I intend
- to walk to next.
-
- On Friday, I didn't want to lose my momentum, so I cleaned house
- for a few hours. Believe me, I was tired :-) I have made it
- my goal to get a minimum of ten minutes of some form of exercise
- into everyday. I have done it so far (5days). If I walk on my lunch
- hour, then I don't feel so guilty about vegging on the sofa after
- dinner and watching a little t.v. before I start out on the
- dishes and getting my 4YO ready for bed.
-
- I just want to thank everyone. I feel better now, and I am exercising.

- P.S. I made banana bread yesterday and am wondering how I determine
- the fat content of a homemade product. I didn't use the
- applesauce method to replace the oil because I forgot; anyway
- the bread has 3/4C walnuts, one egg, 1/3C milk, and 3Tbsp. oil.
- It is delicious, and I ate a chunk for breakfast along with some
- coffee yogurt.
