- The original name of the band was The Beat. When they came to the U.S.
- on tour, they found that there was already a band from the States with the same
- name, so they changed it to The English Beat. That's why U.S. releases,
- T-shirts, and badges all have "The English Beat", and the "real" stuff has "The
- Beat". For the whole story read _The_Two_Tone_Book_for_Rude_Boys_, and

-
- No, the Deltones are a real all-girl ska band, on Unicorn Records (UK).
- I have their album, "Nana Choc Choc in Paris" (sp?). It's of fair quality,
- about as good as the Bodysnatchers, I think. I listen to it often. They also
- have singles, an EP, and possibly another album. I forget.

- The Specials released one other album, "More Specials". There are,
- however a multitude of new 2Tone CDs being released by Chrysalis (here in the
- US, anyway). They are mostly live or 2Tone comps.

- Both of the books I mentioned are great. The first is out of print.
- Get the second from Zoot magazine.

- All of the Specials albums are available on CD from Chrysalis (even some
- which they never made). Be sure to get the CD version of the Dance Craze
- soundtrack. Some people like the original version better (I have both :) ),
- but if you like the Specials, you need Skinhead Moonstomp, Longshot Kick De
- Bucket, etc., which are only on this CD and the new Specials Live CD. Ah...
- this is REAL skinhead music. (<---- Flames by e-mail please.)
-
-
- Speaking of e-mail, could someone send me that list of ska bands? I missed it.
