  20. I think a lot of it has to do with the economy (at least in my age
  21. group).  "Job security" just doesn't exist anymore.  In the past 5
  22. or so years, I've been working harder for more hours each day than
  23. ever before.  A normal work day starts around 8:00am, and I might
  24. finally get out of the office by 8:30pm, if then.  And if I decide
  25. I don't want to work those longer hours?  There are plenty of folks
  26. looking for work who are just itching to replace me.  Add to that
  27. a 1+-hour commute each way, and my day is pretty well shot.  No
  28. time for dating during the week.  What about on weekends?  I 
  29. occasionally have to work on Saturdays (at least once a month),
  30. and there usually isn't much warning.  So, it's difficult to plan
  31. dates, other than perhaps Sunday afternoons (which I tend to leave
  32. open).

  34. I meet a lot of people at work (my company employs about 3500
  35. people), but we're all pretty much in the same boat -- too busy
  36. to *do* anything about it.
