- A lot of British tabloids recently have been publishing articles about rave
- music being 'dead'. I personally think that is a load of crap!, but I do ask
- myself where these papers get there information from?? Does the Daily Record
- call up its mail boy who happens to have a Nickelson jacket and say "hey son,
- whats 'appenin' in the rave scene", to a reply of "oh its dying out mate", and
- then they publish an article on this?
- I do realise this is an extreme example but _what_ gives them the authority
- to publish such unfounded crap. If anyone could say rave was dead then it would
- be us, the people who listen to the music, buy the new releases, some of us are
- DJs, rave promoters, and some of us (like me) just have a great love for the
- music.
- Personally I don't think rave is dead, because the word rave encompasses so
- many different types of music, which we all know, and was evident from the
- recently publish FAQ. I think the hardcore "lets kick some ass" music is going,
- certainly here in Britian, the case in the U.S. and Oz may be different but I
- think they will go the same way eventually.
- House music is back, but with more energy than before, the good old Italian
- style piano is back, and happy lyrics are here again. Gone are the days of
- 2 hours of pure bass at 140 bpm+, and some MC shouting obscenities at the
- assembled masses of a rave with a capacity of 20,000.
- Warehouse parties are a thing of future, and not a thing of the past. Half
- the fun was trying to find the rave in a field somewhere, rather than crashing
- out 20+ quid to go to some airport hanger etc. where the atmosphere is as good
- as 'Club Crud' that Stephen Quigg described a few postings back.
- Okay I have said what I want to say....I may be totally wrong (I usually am)
- but looking from the outside in...this is the way I see the whole scene going...
- and IMHO it will be for the better (See : Bare Skin Hooligans (A posting a made
- a few days back))
-
- Happy partying....
