- You might want to try changing the antenna you use to listen to the mobile
- units. those units are pumping out 100 watts each and are quite receiveable
- from where i live. i have heard units as far away as san diego and out near
- palm springs and up near lodi and farther. the chp quarter wave whip on their
- cars is around 6-7' tall, and i used a cb antenna for most of my low band
- listening. if you have a base station cb antenna, or know someone who does
- that's willing to part with it, it would be a decent investment for the
- scanner. they do quite a job for low band work. remember though, low band
- works much better in the open areas (why chp uses it) and is quite crappy in
- large metro areas with large buildings. san jose's undercover freq's are
- rarely used and they do most drug bust work on san jose pd channels 7, 9, and
- 11. sherriff narc work is done mostly on either channel 3 (156.150) or
- cal-coord (156.075)
