  12. Well, I answered my own question today.  I disassembled by 200XLT and
  13. de-soldered the 10K surface mount resistor above the flatpack IC. 
  14. The resistor came off easily, and I saved it by taping it to the inside cover.

  18. BTW: Even if it was damaged by my soldering iron, you can buy assorted
  19. surface mount devices at Radio Shack now.  They sell a little bubble pack
  20. with about 30+ tiny things for a buck or two.
