  11.   I played with a lot of the digital 900MHz phones at the Consumer
  12. Electronics Show last Spring.   While even their promotional literature
  13. misinforms the public in varying degrees (from "scrambled" to "makes
  14. scanners useless"), if you explain the difference between 'coding' &
  15. 'encrypting' to their sales reps, they generally will admit that there isn't
  16. any encryption.

  18.    They've already had contact with certain U.S. government agencies.
  19. Obstensibly, this was because the government was interested in getting some
  20. *secure* cordless phones.   So far, none of the companies have wanted to put
  21. up the $$ to do the R&D & get the end-result certified by the gov't.

  24.    Some enterprising hackers ought to fiddle with a Soundblaster card &
  25. software in regards to decoding the digital audio from the cordless
  26. phones...
