- I see scanning as taking up the challenge. It may take a while to get
- back to hand-held models again, but ham radio has been doing digital
- and even packet digital for some time now. It is pretty easy to get
- that downconverted, so if there is a standard encoding technique for
- digital voice for public safety, it is just as easy to sell a device
- which decodes it and turns it back to analog...
