- You need to get around more ted, and see what the world is
- really like. The sad truth is that the American people have many times
- suspended there own basic rights in order to attack a minority.
- Consider the anti-IWW actions of 1917, the red scare of 1919, the
- japanese scare of 1941. All populat actions where a mob turned on a
- unpopular minority. I stand against school prayer because it
- exacerbates the kind of us verse them thinking that causes these
- actions. If if 90% of the people respect the right of a minority, the
- other 10% should be enought to move things right along. It only takes
- one bigot in a crowd to make a mob. That's not opionin, that's history,
- and it's what the founding fathers were afraid of when they created a
- democracy.
- And by the way, since when do you conservatives get off preaching about
- how liberals don't trust people not to abuse there rights. This while
- conservatives perpetuate the myth of welfare queen (the poor take
- adavantage of welfare), blather on about individuals not repsonsible
- enough to use drugs (the war on drugs, or more like the skirmish on
- drugs and war on rights), and even abortion (the mother can't decide).
- The real dope is practivally the whole conservative moral platform is
- based on government deciding what's right for YOU. Don't try to pass of
- the republicans as interested in rights, the party of watergate and
- anti-civil rights. If you want the differnce between the right and the
- left, it's only in what they want to regulate.
- IMHO of course.
