- Yep, the crank trigger was where I was having major problems with
- my HPV3 DFI. Spent several days playing with sensor gaps and
- machining the trigger wheel (per suggestions made by Electromotive)
- while wathing the output of the sensor on a scope. Having even a vague
- clue as to what the HPV3 wanted to see from the sensor would have helped
- considerably, but Electromotive would no provide any such information.
- Finally got it to run for 6 minutes, then it died and wouldn't restart.
- This vehicle was for the 1991 NGV Challenge. Many other teams used the
- TEC system for injection and fuel control. Most of them were using a
- distruibutor mounted trigger made by someone else, can't remember who.
- The major complaints that year (besides the stock trigger), were that
- it would not work in a broad range of temperatures (40F to 100F was what
- the functional range was, I believe), and that it would not fire if the
- supply voltage dropped below about 10 volts during cranking.
