- * Strategies for fighting the COMPUTER *
- ****************************************
-
- golden rule: Remember, the computer has NO feelings!
-
- BLANKA
-
- Blanka's bite can be a real bitch, but with my strategy, he won't bite you
- once. This is what I do to beat up computer Blanka:
-
- At beginning of round, I throw a fireball (usually medium fireball).
- If he jumps over it, and is close to you, block high, then low.
- If he blocks it, just throw another one.
- The key is to get a considerable distance away from him. Once you do, do
- this:
- 1) Throw fireball.
- 2) If he jumps over it, hit him with fierce as he lands (don't worry about him
- kicking your limbs; he won't, so timing isn't crucial with the fierce punch)
- then hit him with fierce again. go back to step 1)
- If he balls at you, simply block and hit either fierce or roundhouse.
- Beware not to do standing kicks for he WILL crouch punch your leg just about
- every time. Also, don't throw fireball if Blanka is real close because you
- won't be able to get your block up in time.
-
- HONDA
-
- Oh boy, really simple here folks.
- 1) throw medium fireball
- 2) if he jumps over it, kick him with either roundhouse or forward. If you
- have a great distance between you and Honda, Honda is totally useless, since
- that standing roundhouse kick has such reach. go back to step 1)
- If he blocks your fireball, block accordingly. Very similar to fighting
- Blanka. If he sets up for torpedo, you can:
- 1) yoga flame (don't flame too early, though)
- 2) roundhouse slide under torpedo, and push fierce (looks cool)
- 3) foot drill
- 4) yoga fire until he stopsw setting up for torpedo
-
- ZANGIEF
-
- Getting really tough here! Zangief is probably the toughest for Dhalsim,
- since he is a cheater!
- 1) He knows when you fireball (he will jump over it)
- 2) He knows when you're attacking (e.g., he will kick your leg without you
- taking off any damage.
- So what works?
- This is what I do. The timing will be complicated at first, but you'll
- learn with much practice:
- All fireballs will be slow ones.
- 1) Throw fireball. If he blocks, throw another one
- 2) ok, he jumps your fireball. You must hit fierce so that your top arm
- will hit Zangief so that you won't kick your arm. Remember, with fierce
- punch, Dhalsim shoots both arms. To time this correctly, IMMEDIATELY after
- shooting fireball, push fierce (you may want to push it twice to make sure).
- Your timing must be picture perfect. go back to 1)
- 3) ok, sometimes you will mess up on your fireball and it won't come out.
- you can:
- a) stand still and get SPD'd (not a good idea)
- b) jump back and get away. (good idea. Try racing for the corner then start
- jumping up and punching [you know the old pattern from classic SFII]).
- After doing this, you can try to jump towards Zangief then head drill and
- the peak of your jump, so you can escape from the corner and get your
- distance to set up the pattern again. Be careful with the pattern above.
- Don't throw fireballs if Zangief is real close to you (unless at point blank
- range). This is semi-effective. Beware the SPD!!!
-
- This pattern takes concentration and patience. Sometimes, when Zangief jumps,
- he'll jump straight up. He will be burned automatically (provided that you
- threw a slow fireball. Sometimes you can punch him and he'll get burned at
- the same time. If you happen to get Zangief stunned, do not go over to throw
- him. Throw a fireball and be safe. Also, if you can't do the above pattern
- too well, try yoga flame. I rarely do this move, but many times, computer
- Zangief will run into it a lot, so I am starting to use it more often.
-
- With my method, I can get a perfect against computer Zangief about 30% of the
- time, and when I need to win about 70-80% of the time. If someone has a better
- method, please inform me.
-
- CHUN LI
-
- Piece of cake. Just use forward kick until she's dead.
-
- DHALSIM
-
- What a dumb ass. There are 2 bugs that I know with computer Dhalsim.
- 1) he doesn't throw
- 2) I can lock him up where he won't attack
-
- Just play defensive. At the beginning of the round, hold joystick in low
- defensive block position. If he head dives, block then throw. If he does
- a standing roundhouse, just roundhouse slide him.
- Keep slinging slow fireballs at him.
- 1) if he slides under it, just hit fierce
- 2) if he foot dives, simply hit fierce when he lands.
-
- Keep him back and you will win.
-
- I can do the Dhalsim vs. Dhalsim bug about half the time, but I'm not
- exactly sure how to do it consistently.
- Many times computer Dhalsim jumps back. If you see him jump back, you jump
- back also. When you land, don't attack. Sometimes, computer Dhalsim will
- sit there until the time runs out. You will win provided that you were
- leading in the round. This bug usually occurs when we land that I am on
- one side of the rug, and he lands on the other. Try it, I'm not making
- this up!! Walk over there and toss his stupid ass.
-
- RYU
-
- Tough!! What you want to do is roundhouse slide under his fireballs.
- This is what I do to beat computer Ryu.
- 1) At beginning of round, throw fast fireball.
- 2) continue throwing fireballs until Ryu starts to throw fireballs.
- 3) Ryu should be in his corner. Roundhouse slide under his next fireball.
- Now you have 3 options
- a) jump back. If he shoots another fireball, foot drill and block next
- fireball. Then slide under his next one after that.
- b) stay in block position. Wait until he shoots next fireball and slide
- under it.
- c) yoga flame over his fallen body. Sometimes he won't block. If he does,
- then go to step a) or b)
-
- Be careful when Ryu just stands there for about 3 seconds. That means he
- WILL dragon punch (to throw your timing off). Get close enough where he'll
- miss with this punch and you can double head butt him when he lands.
-
- DON'T throw fireballs at close range. Ryu will do that annoying jump kick
- then sweep combo.
-
- Oh, if you tried to roundhouse slide under his fireball and you missed,
- Ryu (and Ken for that matter) will start the flurry of short sweeps.
- Depending on your distance away from Ryu, you can fierce punch him while
- he doing those short sweeps.
-
- KEN
-
- Krazy Ken!!! This is what I try to do:
- 1) At the beginning of the round, I always jump back.
- 2) If Ken jumps back, then you're safe for now goto step 4)
- 3) If he does a hurricane kick, foot drill him (you're still in the air)
- Sometimes you can sneak a double head butt after you foot drill him.
-
- After you get some distance,
- 4) Sling fireballs at him, until he starts that jumping back and forth
- routine
- 5) If he does that, wait for him to jump forward and kick him with a
- standing roundhouse. Also, you may want to try to sneak up on him and
- see if you can roundhouse slide under his fireballs
- 6) The key to beating Ken is for him to beat himself. Wait for Ken to
- approach you. Many times he'll go for the big uppercut. Double head butt
- him on the way down and do a medium slide (he's stunned). throw him!
-
- Do not attempt to fight offensively in any way. Stay on the ground as much
- as possible. If there's a good distance between you and Ken, try to avoid
- punching or kicking for he will probably want to uppercut your limbs.
- Throw fireballs instead.
-
- GUILE
-
- It's gonna be a war!! To beat computer Guile, I throw a zillion fireballs.
- This is what I do:
- All fireballs will be slow.
-
- 1) Throw fireball (what else?)
- 2) Continue throwing fireballs until Guile jumps up or at you (keep throwing
- them slow. Guile will block many of them with sonic booms, but be patient)
- While throwing fireballs, follow them, like a Guile master would do after
- throwing slow sonic booms.
- 3) If Guile jumps straight up, either fierce punch him on the way down or
- give him a standing roundhouse kick. go to step 2)
- 4) If Guile jumps at you, either kick him with standing forward kick,
- fierce punch him when he lands, or jump back and roundhouse him out of the
- air. go to step 2)
-
- Remember, don't throw fireballs when you are close to your opponent.
-
- Also, computer Guile loves to do what I call a sucker throw. Sometimes
- Guile will just run up to you and simply throw you. If you see Guile
- running towards you, you may want to let him get close to you, and
- as you're walking backwards, push fierce to reverse throw him.
-
- BALROG
-
- Hehehe. Simple.
- 1) Roundhouse slide
- 2) Walk towards him and double head butt him
- 3) If he blocks, go to step 1)
- 4) He's stunned, double head butt him again, go to step 1)
-
- VEGA
-
- Block until he bounces of the wall.
- 1) For the first two bounces of the wall, just jump straight up and roundhouse
- him out of the air. (this is optional)
- 2) When he bounces of the wall, this time roundhouse slide when he lands.
- Then double head butt him.
- 3) [Alternate method] When he bounces off the wall, yoga flame. He will get
- burned. Now go over and head butt him, (and do a quick foot drill).
-
- After Vega climbs the fence, he will start to do some somersault rolls on
- you. If you see a roll coming simply, roundhouse slide to knock him out of
- his roll.
-
- You can even jump kick Vega when he comes off the fence if you have enough
- distance. Otherwise, just jump back and spin away (head dive).
-
- SAGAT
-
- Easier than in classic SFII, because now you can duck under his high tiger.
-
- 1) Stay in crouch position
- 2) If he throws high tiger, roundhouse slide and go for a head butt (usually
- it's safe)
- 3) If he gets in that pattern where he'll alternate between high and low
- tiger, wait until he throws low tiger, and do a quick head drill (jump
- towards him and immediately push fierce and down, then head butt)
-
- Stay on the ground as much as possible.
- The key to beating Sagat is to counter his moves (fight defensively)
- (e.g., when he throws high tiger, slide). You can kill Sagat with slides
- and head butts alone.
-
- BISON
-
- Oh no!! The classic SFII pattern doesn't work anymore!!
- Bison's a real bitch, and my way of beating him isn't the best, but I can
- hold my own with him.
- This is what I do:
- 1) Jump back and kick (roundhouse to start off the fight)
- 2) Keep jumping back and kicking (use the appropriate kick button) until I
- am in my corner.
- 3) If you miss, throw Bison as you land on the ground. You will notice that
- many times you will see yourself exchanging positions with Bison and you land.
- 4) continue fighting
-
- The jumping kicks tend to work better than any other move. If you suspect a
- flaming torpedo, try to sneak in a fireball or foot drill. GOOD LUCK!!
- When fighting Bison, I tend to stay in the air as much as possible.
