  19. You were wrong last time you made this absurd claim, and you are equally
  20. wrong now.   The mere act of recording a death on film does not make
  21. a "snuff" film.   Not that The Faces of Death series has any scenes of murders.
  22. They comprise simple fictional entertainment of a not-particularly
  23. sophisticated kind.

  25. As far as the most strenuous efforts of the authorities have been able
  26. to tell, snuff films are just an urban legend.
  27. Paul Lanning, the FBI's chief researcher into child pornography was quoted 
  28. by "The Times" of London:

  30.       "In 20 years I have not seen any hard evidence that they have
  31.        commercially produced sexually explicit films of murders for the
  32.        gratification of other people.  Simulated snuff movies using
  33.        special effects are so realistic there is no point in risking life
  34.        in jail."

  36. By the implicit definition of the authorities, a snuff film is one in which 
  37. the film is the *purpose* of (rather than incidental to) the murder and with 
  38. some intent of commercial distribution (i.e. if they ran out of film, the
  39. murder would be postponed until someone could run down to the 7-11 & get more).

  41. Everyone accepts that snuff movies *could* exist, because people are evil
  42. enough - this is not in dispute; the point is that, despite the most strenuous
  43. searches, no examples have yet come to light.  Until someone shows
  44. evidence of their existence, snuff films are in the same category as UFO's,
  45. the Loch Ness monster, and Bruce Willis's hair -- i.e. "believed false."

  47. And to "starbuck" in particular -- it only damages your credibility to
  48. rehash your old discredited arguments.  Come back when you have some proof
  49. of the existence of a snuff film, and you will be feted with a hero's
  50. welcome (for finding something that no police force in the world has yet
  51. been known to uncover).
