- There's the problem, "put their hat in the ring." Female politicians
- are succeeding now because they're getting the support and financial
- backing of political parties. Rarely does anyone, male or female,
- annouce her/his candidacy and get very far without party support.
- (Perot did, but he spent millions of his own money.) Even Barbara
- Boxer, who looked like a shoo-in for the Senate, eventually had to
- rely on the Democratic party machine to come through for her.
