- I'm sorry but as a Conservative I must take a stand. Day 17 has come and
- gone and the Conservative Movement is alive and well. We need only look at
- the future and see that the decade of the 1980s was not the GREAT EVIL that
- you people are making it out to be. The average American Worker's salry
- increased by over 15 % during the 1980s and this period took place during
- the longest peactime prosperity in our country's history. The Liberal Elite
- of this country seeks to revert back to a time when the government "TOOK
- CARE" of its people. This is not only dangerous, but sets a bad example of
- the American way of life. Our country was founded by men who believed that
- individual liberty and freedom meant that a person could only be limited by
- his or her own abilities. Today the majority of the people still do believe
- that this anaology holds true, but maybe those individuals with blinders on
- both sides of the aisle have failed to see this as being true. As we sit
- here ridiculing a man for doing the best job possible, can we expect any
- less of ourselves.
-
- The 1980s created a sense of pride in America for being the best in the
- world and we still are. We spend more money on AIDS research than any other
- country and it kills not nearly as many people as cancer or heart disease.
- You nay sayers out there take the Regan Bush years as being 12 years of
- hell, but can anyone seriously think that the pipe dream presidencies of
- Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, or second term of Jimmy Carter would have
- brought about a more positive result.
-
- The Bill Clinton presidency does have much promise I'll grant you that. But
- Clinton's agenda will more than likely only foster the problems that you
- liberals seek to end. Why is more money available for unemployment better
- than there being no need for it because government got off the backs of
- individuals who can create private sector, well paying career jobs. Why is
- it better for life style choices to have a prominant place in main stream
- society when all individuals are perceived to be the same. And why is it
- that government believes it knows what its citizens need better than the
- citizens themselves.
-
- The gridlock in government will not just because there is one party rule
- because the Congress by its very nature is in gridlock. The leadership of
- the majority will not allow their counterparts to even express an issue that
- may make this country better because it directly conflicts with the ability
- of the majority to maintian an unbreakable financial hold on those it swears
- to protect. The Democrats cannot solve the problems of the urban poor by
- attempting to buy them off in order to keep their votes. Perhaps the
- Democrats are listening but to what extent, as their has been an agenda for
- renewal that can bring America back. Let's just hope that in 4 years we can
- see the mistake that we have made and begin a new revolution.
-
- One that will see the end of the Welfare State because we have succeded in
- ending the government's strangle hold on our society, because our education
- dollars go to education and not to the beaucrats in D.C. we must not let
- the potential growth of our country be circumvented by the Congressional
- Elite of Foley, Metzenbaum, Gephardt, Mictchell and Kennedy. Rather we
- should be as closed minded as the liberals claim we are. Men like Dole, and
- Gingrich make valid points and we do not listen. Men like our next
- presidential hopeful Jack Kemp have plans for America's future that center
- around a common principle if you own it you will not destroy it.
-
- Keep this in mind when you are trashing someone who has stood up for these
- basic American Values and has not only succeeded but has excelled.
